Rogers and the other carriers have been abusiing their users for so long now they have no choice but to do stunts like this to make it seem cool.
The carriers have acted as a cartel and blocked a lot of the service providers in mobile offerings getting into the market.
In the near future we know of several service providers who will take on the carriers in Canada offering non-carrier specific service offerings like never before.
