Market size is the biggest reason apple isn't here yet. There may be others, but market size is the key. #subscribers x ARPU and canada, or one GSM carrier within canada to be precise, is a small pie for Apple.

thomas,
i think it doesn't have anything to do with the size of the market.

the iPhone is a GSM phone, and only Fido and Rogers are able to support it. because it's the same company, they have a monopoly in Canada. on the other hand, apple will only release the iphone in canada if a carrier is able to offer an unlimited data plan at a fair price.

in short, i don't see the iphone coming here. until videotron comes (maybe), as i know they will choose GSM, and raise the competition, lower prices and makes the landscape more attractive to apple.

IANAE, but surely total subscriber revenues != attractiveness of the market. Ridiculously high data rates, on the other hand...

Purchasing power parity (PPP) of:

Japan - $33,100
China - $7,700
Italy - $30,200
Spain - $27,400
Korea - $24,600
Brazil - $8,800
India - $3,800
Russia - $12,200
Mexico - $10,700
Canada - $35,600
