These little netbooks are not half so powerful as even your year-old macbook. Their idea is that they are cheap and cheerful enough that you can own in a addition to your main computer and they are just powerful enough to get a reasonable amount of stuff done in a highly portable formfactor.

And then the rumor is for redesigned macbooks out the second week of October, likely to be a least a little slimmer than the current version and, if not under $500 quite possibly under $1000.

When will a mac ever have built in 3G? there's a whole other question. It's not like Apple doesn't know a thing or two about cell phones...

really? That sounds good. My macbook is like 1 year old this september. I should immediately ditch it and upgrade? Honestly the thought never occurred to me. I was about to put a sticker on it because I thought I'd have it forever (I didn't put it on anyway). How would I go about doing this 'upgrade' you speak of?

Ugh. i want one... The only problem is that their won't be a reasonable 3G contract. It's going to be 3 years and at least $30/month for 6 gigs like the iPhone has. Who owns a mini netbook for 3 years? It seems to me like something i'd have for one year and then upgrade
