I don't think that's how it rolled out.

As I remember, Nokia and Ericsson were bullying AT&T in the US and Rogers in Canada into switching from TDMA to GSM because they supplied the carrier-side equipment. Of course I can't find any links to support this — anyone care to discuss?

I always thought that Ted Rogers was not the problem, but instead we just needed one more Ted.,. someone who had the guts to give him a run for his money. Sadly, that was not the case.

I bet he even found it all a little more boring that he would have liked.
